3 Years Ago Today!

It was 3 years ago today that our Little Angel Pie came into our lives. What a journey! I still can't believe it's even been 3 years.

We traveled to China by ourselves & not with a group like most adoptive parents do. We 1st flew into Hong Kong & spent one night. I don't think I slept much but when I did it was pretty sound since I was so exhausted. The next day we flew over to the mainland . We weren't in our hotel room for much more than an hour when our guide came to tell us that we were going to meet our daughter. We rode in a worn out little white van down through the hustle & bustle of an exotic city. There were tons of people everywhere. The traffic was chaotic. We finally pulled up to a large white government building. My heart was pounding as we walked upstairs. The building was cold & sparse of furnishings. The walk seemed like a mile. We finally came to a large room & there she was! All bundled in a bright yellow & black puffy suit. I took her in my arms. She felt like a tiny pea wrapped in a giant ball of cotton. She was sick & coughing. She started crying & I'm sure she was scared. I was so overwhelmed holding back tears so I wouldn't upset her more. I said that I couldn't believe how tiny she was. She felt so much smaller than her referral pictures had depicted her to be. The experience was surreal! She was beautiful! We were finally Mommy & Daddy!

Not that I don't think of them often but it's always this day that I especially think of Siena's birth parents. I thank them for the beautiful child that they allowed us. Not knowing all of the circumstances I can only hope that they have found peace in their hearts for the sacrifice that they had endured.

Happy Gotcha Day Anniversary!!!
I don't know about you, but I love thinking back to that magical day, and kind of re-living it in my mind every once in a while. It truly was one special day.
